Why You're Not Seeing the Right Candidates
We’ve all been there. The position is posted, the recruiting team is searching, but the right candidates just don’t seem to be out there. Here are a few ideas to help you adjust the search:
Your recruiting team doesn’t understand your role. Instead of relying on the job description and title, show the recruiter the output, talk about the challenges of the role, talk about who would be successful in the position.
You’re using the wrong title. Take another look at the job description and salary. Does it match up with the title and level of the position?
Your company, or this position, may have a reputation/perception issue. Check Glassdoor. Ask around in your network. Have you had a lot of turnover in this role? A bad reputation can spoil a search.
You’re asking for too many skillsets in one person. Let’s be honest, there’s only so much experience one person can gain in 3 years. Make a decision on what is a must have and what would be nice to have. You may need to be willing to train in certain areas.
The salary doesn’t match the requirements. Adjust accordingly.
You need a fresh set of eyes on your search. After 45 days, switch up recruiters. As seasoned recruiters, we see this all the time. A different recruiter can bring a fresh perspective and a new network to a search.
It’s a tight market for the position/industry. You may need to develop a competitive strategy to attract in-demand talent.
